Ah yes, AI. The never-ending conversation in today’s world. I figured I’d eventually write about it.
First off, I’ll say there’s no doubt in my mind that artificial intelligence is changing how we run businesses. It already has. In fact, I use it daily to help my mom and I run our business. And no, it’s not because I’m riding the bandwagon. Not at all. It genuinely makes a big difference. It boosts efficiency, takes repetitive tasks off our plate so we can focus more on our clients, and adds an extra layer of precision to pretty much everything we do. But I’m not here to praise AI (though I could).
One of the more interesting conversations around AI is whether or not it will replace people in their current lines of work. What about real estate? More specifically, residential real estate? Here’s what I can tell you: residential sales will always be a human job. I’m talking about real, living, breathing people, not computers. And in case you thought otherwise… have you ever bought a house? Have you sold one? Do you know how emotional, spiritual, and life-changing that process can be?
The home where you raise your first child.
The home that gets passed down through generations.
The home where you had some of the best years of your life—and maybe some of the hardest.
The home that elevates the way you live.
The home that becomes a part of who you are.
When it comes to the art of buying and selling, it’s not just numbers on paper. Yes, that’s part of it, but it’s only one piece of a much bigger picture. When you buy a home, you need to feel it. What emotions come up when you walk in? How does the energy flow? Can you see yourself there for ten years? Could you raise a child there?
Or maybe you’re selling. What’s the story your home tells? What are your favorite memories, your sacred spaces? How do we prepare a home in a way that connects emotionally with the right buyer? How do we carry on your home’s legacy?
What I’m saying is this is one of the most emotional lines of work out there. And quite frankly, it should be. When you're making one of the biggest decisions of your life financially, emotionally, spiritually, you need someone to lean on. Someone you TRUST. Someone who can keep things steady when they go sideways, and someone who can celebrate with you when it all comes together. Someone who’s right there with you, in it.
That’s what we do. That’s the job. Along with a million other things. And yeah, we use AI. We use tech. We’d be crazy not to. But a good agent that works far deeper beyond just the “transaction” — you can’t replace that with a computer.
It just doesn’t work like that.
